Welcoming Paul Simonin

By Luke Wilson

July 21, 2022

We are delighted to introduceย Paul Simonin, A Rochaโ€™s newly hired Conservation Science Director, serving at all three levels of A Rocha; regionally, nationally and internationally.

Paul joins the A Rocha community with hands-on and academic experience in conservation science. He has also lived in faith-based intentional communities, so he, Abby (wife), and Junia (infant) are excited to live at our A Rocha BC Centre in Surrey, BC.

As you will hear in the video, his focus has been on water and fish–two things we take care of, daily.

I look forward to how Paul can help deepen partnerships with universities and expand our science work.

Personally, what stands out to me about Paul is his gentle spirit towards people and his value for both research and field ecology work. I am most excited to see him connect our conservation programming across Canada and the world.

In reflecting on starting thisย newย role,ย Paulย shared:

โ€œA Rocha and its community of partners have an inspiring track record of sound science and effective conservation action. I am excited to begin working with our team and partners to serve our communities across Canada and around the world.โ€

Read more about Paul’s background and prior work on his staff page. Please join us in welcoming Paul to the A Rocha community and pray for him and his family as they root themselves in BC.
