A Vancity enviroFund grant of $40,000 was recently awarded to A Rocha for our conservation initiatives in the Little Campbell River Watershed.

The enviroFund’s project name is “Restoring Streamside Habitat for Salmon and Wildlife” and this is exactly what we will be doing this coming year! Community activities will include engaging and educating the public and watershed landowners on species-at risk stewardship, establishing a Riparian Conservation Program for species at risk (including the Great Blue Heron, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Pacific Water Shrew, Red-legged Frog, Western Toad, Oregon Forestsnail, Vancouver Island Beggarticks, and the recently rediscovered Salish Sucker). In addition, we will be conducting baseline surveys to identify and map occupied and potential habitat, restoring degraded habitat in identified areas, and incorporating all this learning and data into age-appropriate presentations to enhance our environmental education programs onsite and within the local community.
Thanks Vancity for your support!
