Between Friday July 6th and Sunday July 9th, Canada Post’s Community Mailbox containing A Rocha’s mail was broken into and some mail, along with mail for others in the same unit, was stolen.  Canada Post alerted us to the theft today, and we have reported the incident to Surrey RCMP. Unfortunately we have no way of identifying which mail is missing. A Rocha normally receives some mail every weekday, so we know that this could potentially affect some of our donors.  If you mailed in a donation or financial details/instructions to our Surrey address within the past two weeks, please email us.

Mail Theft Alert:  Additional Information

We are requesting that if you as a supporter recently mailed in donations, or financial instructions, please check to make sure that your gift is accounted for by

  1. Calling or emailing our office to ensure that credit card and pre-authorized giving instructions mailed within the last two weeks have been received by us.
  2. Reviewing your bank records and consulting your bank ASAP to verify if your cheque to A Rocha has cleared.  If not cleared within a reasonable time, please call us to ensure that there has not been a delay in depositing on our end. Your bank may advise other security measures as well.
  3. Checking that the endorsement on the back of your cleared cheque is stamped with A Rocha’s official “Deposit to the Credit of A Rocha Canada – Christians in Conservation” stamp, which also imprints our bank account number.  All cheques negotiated properly through our bank have this stamp. Should that stamp be missing or replaced with something else, please contact your bank immediately and kindly let us know as well.
  4. Arranging for a “stop payment” ASAP through your bank should your cheque be unaccounted for, and kindly sending a replacement. Online giving through our website is also a secure choice.
  5. Safeguarding your information, by not using email to send us credit card or bank account details, as email is not encrypted for security.  If you feel you must send information by email, please divide the information into separate emails (splitting the account details between them).

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this incident may have caused. Canada Post assures us that they are working to minimize opportunities for theft.
