We’re excited to introduce you to the team of incredible folks who will be joining us in Manitoba this summer!
Jubilee Dueck Thiessen
Jubilee is excited to be on the A Rocha team this summer as an Education Programs Assistant. A seasoned day camp leader, she hopes to plan inspiring programs, and looks forward to facilitating growth and learning as kids experience wonder in God’s creation. As a student at Canadian Mennonite University, she is passionate about doing justice by caring for creation and for others. In her free time she enjoys swimming, drawing, and making music.
Kari is thrilled to be on A Rocha’s team for the summer. As a Social Science student at Canadian Mennonite University, she admires the interconnection of life between humanity and the natural world. Using the knowledge acquired from school and previous experiences with bible camps, Kari is looking forward to planning for summer and learning about God’s plan for creation alongside the children and her team. In her spare time, Kari can be found exploring Winnipeg on her bike, reading a good book, or telling a funny joke (What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear!).
For Justin, environmental care has emerged from a deep commitment to Christian discipleship. He first became acquainted with A Rocha while studying Sociology & Social Work at Redeemer University and while working for 541 Eatery & Exchange, an innovative social enterprise in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. Justin is currently working on an MA in Christian Ministry, focusing on developing connections between ecology and practical theology. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, camping, reading, and watching movies with friends.
Justin’s previous work has combined his passion for community development with care for people and place. He is excited to use these gifts in the development of a food waste initiative on the campus of Canadian Mennonite University.
