Winter can be a tough time to be outside and explore with it being cold and challenging to get around. However, we Manitobans have a rich tradition of activities based around the Winter season. To that end, the Explore Outdoors program gives youth a chance to try out some of these activities including snow shoeing, quinzee building, snow sculpting, maple toffee making and broom ball. We will also learn about winter ecology, specifically about the lives of animals in the winter, snow and ice, and how humans have learned to thrive in this season.
This year, the Explore Outdoors program will be running in Morden and Winkler. It is a weekly, program running for five consecutive weeks. Registration is open to youth from grades 5-7.
