We are delighted to announce that Henry Martens is taking on the role of Director of the A Rocha Pembina Valley Interpretive Centre located in southern Manitoba. Henry and his wife Elma are no strangers to A Rocha nor to the Centre. In fact, Henry and Elma owned and developed the Centre property for thirty years before handing over their beautiful land into A Rocha’s care.
Henry writes, “It is with heartfelt humility and genuine optimism that I have accepted this role, realizing that there are many challenges ahead, but also believing that with every challenge there come opportunities.”
Among those opportunities is the upcoming transition in Centre hosts as Josh and Bethany Paetkau move on in the fall after a year of fruitful service with A Rocha in the Pembina Valley. In addition, Tim and Cyndie Wiebe will be joining the team as the Education Co-ordinators, operating out of the soon-to-be-completed “Meeting Place,” an educational facility which will greatly enhance the Interpretive Centre’s ability to host and educate a wide variety of groups.
Henry is excited to welcome volunteers and partners in the journey of developing the Pembina Valley Interpretive Centre into a place that cares for creation and cares for people. Please feel free to contact him at henry.martens@arocha.ca if you’d like to join in that journey!
