BC Hydro recently named A Rocha Canada as a 2015 Community Champion in environmental leadership. The award was granted after a month-long public voting period where A Rocha’s submitted video “A Rocha: Inspiring Hope through Environmental Stewardship” attracted a tremendous amount of community support.

Inspired by God’s love, A Rocha is a hub for community initiatives in the areas of conservation, environmental education and sustainable agriculture. From its headquarters at Brooskdale Environmental Centre in Surrey, BC, A Rocha annually welcomes over 3,000 children, families and youth to participate in hands-on environmental learning.
Much of this learning happens along the banks of the Little Campbell River – a river that has been named one of BC’s top twelve endangered rivers by the Outdoor Recreation Council. The team at Brooksdale also studies several Species at Risk and works hard to restore habitat within the watershed.

Whether working in Surrey, BC along the Little Campbell or with refugee families in Hamilton, Ontario, A Rocha seeks to transform people and places by showing God’s love for all creation.
As part of the Community Champions conservation award A Rocha received a grant of $10,000. This funding will support A Rocha’s environmental education programs, which connect children and adults directly to nature.
