I came to A Rocha hoping to get my hands dirty while learning a bit about agriculture and food preservation. I leave with so much more. I have grown in my knowledge and respect for the Land and for the people who grow food sustainably. I’ve witnessed the miracle of transformation as a tiny seed, planted in fertile soil, grows into a plant that produces bountiful fruit. Through these experiences I feel more connected to my food and have a greater appreciation for it. Being at A Rocha has emboldened me to ask more questions and I value being in a community that learns together. At A Rocha there is no shame in expressing one’s ignorance; instead, there is an eagerness to share with each other whatever wisdom and experience that we can offer. These months have been a gift and a time of growth for which I am sincerely grateful to God.
