Lakepark Village is a family housing complex located in Burnaby, BC. Marty and Jenn, who work with More Than a Roof are the managers of this property and have recently resurrected some garden plots created a few years back. They’ve now created a vibrant community space, with keen involvement from residents. Recent developments have been a newly painted sign, plus the beans and squash growing well (see picture below).
Summertime gardening. Eating popsicles and using the sticks to label newly planted seeds!
The group gardening sessions have been happening every two weeks and lots of young boys and girls are involved! A Rocha’s Community Garden Network and gardeners from Cariboo Road Fellowship Church have also been involved to offer gardening support.
Recently, it has been so hot that we got to eat popsicles when working in the garden… which proved to be ‘useful’ since the wooden sticks were used to label what was newly planted!! Fun!
