Project Description
Bird communities are excellent indicators of ecosystem health, and bird surveys can usefully engage the public in science and conservation. A Rocha hosts weekly bird walks that rotate among five sites throughout the Little Campbell River watershed. Sites include Brooksdale Environmental Centre, the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club, Redwood Park, Campbell Valley Park, and the Little Campbell River estuary. These bird surveys have been ongoing since 2004 and have amassed a valuable long-term dataset on local bird assemblages. Survey records are uploaded to eBird in order to contribute to a global online citizen science database.
Bird walks are open to the public and are led by experienced birders who enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion with participants. The walks take place on Thursday mornings from 7:45 – 10:00 a.m. If you are interested in joining us on a bird walk, please contact us at the link below.
