Project Description
Restoration Plantings
The A Rocha conservation team is working to restore degraded habitats found at Cedar Haven Eco-Centre through restoration plantings. In 2024, we planted over 3000 native plants which included trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials. Through this work, we are increasing the resilience of habitats like forests, meadows, wetlands, and riparian zones. Our tree planting efforts serve to restore a fallow agricultural field back into a mixed forest type. Many of our herbaceous perennial plantings are replacing invasive wetland species. All of the species we are working with are native and carefully selected to thrive in the habitats where they are being planted. Restoration planting is enhancing the quality of habitat at Cedar Haven and is overall advancing biodiversity in the region for years to come.
