Project Description

Plant a Seed on April 28

Or any Sunday in the year…

Held on the Sunday closest to Earth Day, Good Seed Sunday is a time for Christians across Canada to honour the Creator as they celebrate and care for creation.

We invite you to make use of our FREE downloadable Good Seed Sunday Service Resource Pack and start planning, for this year and next. You may also check out our newly expanded Resource Hub, with a wide variety of sermon guides, worship songs, Sunday school curriculum for children, and ideas on practical creation care projects from A Rocha and around the world. These resources will inspire you to craft your own Good Seed Sunday and kick start a creation care movement in your church and neighbourhood.

You might be a Good Seed Sunday advocate if you:

  1. Spread the Seed – Tell 3 people in your church about Good Seed Sunday and then ask them to pass it on, like the game telephone.
  2. Spread it Further – Like and follow A Rocha Canada on FacebookTwitter / X, and Instagram to stay up-to-date with Good Seed Sunday news! Email a friend or blog about it.
  3. Action Seeker – Show a video about Creation care to your church! Get your church to hand out seed packs.
  4. Ultimate Action Seeker – Start a Community Garden. Ask your Pastor to preach on Creation Care.

You are invited to be part of the vision of inspiring hope and caring for creation at churches and other Christian communities across the country.

Season of Creation

Alternatively, you might consider to observe the Season of Creation, joining many churches in various traditions around the globe

The Season of Creation is an annual celebration of prayer and action to protect creation. It is celebrated by Christians of all traditions, and the leaders of faith traditions have encouraged the faithful to participate. The season begins September 1, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and runs through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis, who is the patron saint of ecology in many traditions.

The theme for 2024 is “To hope and act with Creation. The Season of Creation website has a full guide plus lots of resources to support churches wanting to celebrate the Season of Creation.
