Germinating Conversations: Feeding the World? (Winnipeg, MB)
November 29, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST
“Feeding the World?”
As inflation and a rising cost of living takes hold around the world, we are told again of a “perfect storm” for those dependent on a globalized food system. What does the emerging global food price crisis mean for ordinary life and efforts to feed one’s family? What are the stories we, here on the prairies, tell ourselves about “feeding the world”? How do they intersect with cheap food policies, export-oriented agriculture, corporate concentration, and the multitude of ways people harvest and grow food?
You’re invited to a live facilitated roundtable dialogue with growers, harvesters, and eaters. The Germinating Conversations initiative nurtures relationships between Manitoba farmers, harvesters, and eaters by paying close attention to the art of listening well.
PARTICIPANTS: Lydia Carpenter, Jim Cornelius, Colleen Dyck, Reg Dyck, Ryan Turnbull, and Janelle Wride
WHEN: Tuesday, Nov 29, 7:00PM
WHERE: Canadian Mennonite University (Great Hall, North Campus)
