Where? Ashbridges Bay, Toronto

When? Saturday, January 5 | 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Join us for our second annual Christmas Bird Count for Kids (CBC4Kids) to learn about winter water fowl and other winter birds inhabiting Toronto’s Lake Ontario waterfront. You need not be experienced! Our CBC4Kids will include a bird identification and binocular workshop to prepare participants for observing and identifying birds. Experienced birders will lead our birding expedition at Ashbridges Bay, where participants can choose either to assist with formally monitoring (Citizen Science) the birds or to just enjoy getting acquainted with observing them. Both roles are important! We will follow our expedition with a hearty chili lunch.

The event will begin at 9:30 with registration and a short workshop at the Church of the Resurrection, 1100 Woodbine Ave., Toronto. We will then drive to Ashbridges Bay at the southerly end of Coxwell Ave., where we’ll carry out our bird monitoring until about 12 pm. All our citizen scientists—young and old—are invited to join Anne and Jim Purvis at their home for lunch.

Please RSVP for the event by sending an email to Anne Purvis at annepurvis@mailcan.com.

With the support of Bird Studies Canada, this CBC4Kids event is being co-coordinated as a partnership between the Church of the Resurrection, East York, and GTA A Rocha.
