Digging out out the resident blackberry roots in preparation for a sweet new Community Garden space!
Looking for groups to garden together…
Servants’ Vancouver Community is starting a new community garden at the corner of Cordova and Princess (248 Princess Ave). We would like to invite other groups to participate in building / maintaining / using this new garden space.
We envision offering regular hours each week where people can come in and garden/plant/harvest together. So instead of having individual garden boxes, we’re hoping for this space to become more communal in a sense of working in it together and reaping the benefits of this work together.
We’re hoping this wouldn’t just be a “Servants garden”, but truly a space that is used and taken care of by the neighbourhood. This idea is to also have some benches/tables so that it can become a meeting/hangout space that can be used by different groups.
In order to get this entire project started, Servants has decided to be present Tuesday afternoons 2pm-4pm and Friday afternoons 2pm-4pm (unless otherwise announced on the Servants Facebook page), starting this week.
The first task will be to dig up blackberry bushes. Please join us if you would like, and we can talk and vision further while digging. Bring a shovel if you have one.
Grace and peace
Tom
ps. If you are hosting a group this summer who is looking for a service project, please talk to me and their manpower might come in handy.
