Announcing the 11th Anniversary of the Houston Bird Blitz!

Join local birders on May 22 & 23 to count as many species of birds as possible in a 48 hour period!

Count birds at your feeders, on your walks, or at an official event, and report them to the “2026 Bird Blitz Houston BC” project on iNaturalist.

Thursday, May 21

7 pm: Join local naturalists at the Nature Centre for a “Birds of Houston” presentation

Friday, May 22

12:01 am: Let the bird counting begin!

5 – 6 pm: Meet Houston NatureKids at the Houston High School parking lot to build your own bird feeder

6 – 8 pm: Family-friendly bird walk at the Duck Pond (meet at the bench near the High School)

Saturday, May 23

10 – 11 am: “How to Bird” Walk at Silverthorne Lake (meet at the campground)

5 pm: Campfire hot dog roast at the Nature Centre

12 am (midnight): Last records accepted for the official count!
