The Mutual Blessing of Caring for Creation
As I have journeyed in learning more, caring more and practising more environmental stewardship, I’ve come to realize that this is a journey that blesses not just for the earth, but us humans as well.
Over the decades of my life, I’ve now seen how seasons of stress and difficulty have been softened and eased by reconnecting with creation. I’ve seen how seasons of improving vitality and mental health coincide with refocusing my attention on the material things of body, birds and sky. I joined A Rocha last spring after a season of significant burnout, and the GREEN of Brooksdale every day felt like water on parched land inside me.
As Christians, we believe this is because we are created to live in right-relatedness with the earth as we nurture and care for other creatures, their habitats and food systems. So returning to that calling is a blessing of wholeness for the land, but also for us.
Whatever your belief about a higher power, we want you to be blessed by your journey of caring for the earth. And so A Rocha Canada has commissioned a new song that we unveiled for the first time at the May 25th Barn Raiser Gala at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
