  • WHO: You! We’re looking for willing volunteers who care about creation and nature conservation. Skills and knowledge are an asset, but all are welcome!
  • WHAT: Graham (Conservation Science Coordinator) will be leading the group in a forest biodiversity monitoring day. We have several permanent monitoring sites set up and would like to record plant biodiversity for them. We will be starting from 1×1m quadrats and expanding outwards recording samples of herbs, shrubs, and then more detailed stem mapping of trees.
Experience identifying Manitoba plants is an asset but not required to participate.

This work is meant to accomplish a couple of things:
    1. Set a baseline understanding of the biodiversity of the forest
    2. Determine the health of the forest (do we see lots of thriving species or less so)
    3. Observe how the forest is changing, understanding the succession is part of a healthy forest we want to see how the forest is growing and changing
