Every year many birds migrate northward to breed, only to return a few months later to winter in warmer climes. During the past nine years, A Rocha has had the priviledge of monitoring a small portion of this amazing behaviour. Each spring since 2005, A Rocha volunteers have monitored the birds of prey migration in and adjacent to Manitoba’s Pembina Valley. The 2013 migration was exceptional with a count of over 18,000 raptors of 17 species. One of the most surprising counts was that of the Peregrine Falcon. You can read more about the Pembina Valley migration results in the latest annual newsletter, Raptor Review. A Rocha is very grateful to those donors who have supported this project and welcomes folks interested in becoming new donors.
