This October, A Rocha staff and volunteers sowed seeds of A Rocha’s vision in Hamilton, the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa, Ontario. Building on the foundational relationship and stewardship work done by key staff and volunteers in each of these geographic areas, Markku Kostamo (A Rocha Canada’s Executive Director), and Peter Harris (founder and president of A Rocha International) explored issues of creation care in venues like Wycliffe College, Redeemer University College and Tyndale Seminary.

The flurry of events culminated with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s President’s Day conference, as well as a lecture delivered by Peter Harris at the Dr. John Perkins Centre in Hamilton. In response to Peter’s lecture, titled Why Creation is waiting for Christians, a First Nations Christian leader proclaimed, “If Christians get behind Creation Care as part of our faith, there is much potential for reconciliation with the ‘Indian’ brothers and sisters who recognize that we are not owners of the land but stewards.”

We look forward to working with communities and churches across Ontario and seeing how these seeds of vision and reconciliation will grow!
