Check out my updated website: https://sites.google.com/a/arocha.ca/paetkau-family/butterflies-and-other-creatures. I took a picture of the very last Monarch to be raised in the A Rocha nursery this year. We collected, raised, and released 33 Monarchs in 2012. This last one emerged from is cocoon on September 13th to head south. Thankfully, the weather was warm and sunny when it emerged. Other butterflies can still be seen at A Rocha, including the Mourning Cloak, which will overwinter as an adult nestled into the bark of trees. It will be the first butterfly to emerge on an early warm spring day.
