August 11th – 15th was a fun-filled week at Cedar Haven Farm!

Each evening featured a roaring campfire, s’mores, and a chance to marvel at the Perseid meteor shower, which is the brightest shower of the year. ShariAnn, our project coordinator, and our intern Ben worked hard to learn and share their knowledge of many constellations and the folklore behind each of them.

In total, about 95 people from a variety of backgrounds and ages (including folks from Micah House) came out see the glorious Perseids. A few visitors even chose to camp out for an evening!

We got to see some amazing meteors, and learn a thing or two about Cephus, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cassiopeia, Pegasus and many other constellations. Wednesday August 12th was the peak of this year’s shower, as we saw 20 meteors in only 15 minutes!

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us through this event. In 2016 the peak of the Perseids will be once again be August 12th. We hope to see you then!
