As part of its mandate to care for creation, A Rocha Manitoba is seeking to run a trial of a “Christmas Bird Count” (CBC) in the vicinity of the Boreal Ecology Centre in East Braintree, Manitoba this coming January 3, 2020.  We are seeking participants who have an interest in birds and who would be willing to commit to being part of bird-observing teams driving and walking routes in the area from approximately 8:30am-4:30pm. Dinner at the lodge to follow.

We are seeking two categories of participants, all who must be willing to be outside for most of the day (combination of some driving, and frequent stops and longer walks – and times for snack breaks and lunch for course!)

1) Participants who are able to assist with recording observations on CBC forms, pointing out potential birds, driving, managing snacks in a vehicle etc. but who may not be confident to accurately identify birds

2) Participants who are confident to be able to identify by sight and sound most of the bird species we could encounter in East Braintree. They should bring some binoculars.
