A Rocha, Mennonite Central Committee and Canadian Mennonite University have spent five years creating space in rural and urban Manitoba for dialogue surrounding food, faith, and land. We have explicitly sought out difference among growers and eaters, endeavouring to learn together what it means to be a people of faith in conversation with the land. These “Germinating Conversations” have yielded rich and ongoing participation amongst farmers and consumers – moving carefully across rural and urban edges. In addition to annual dialogue events, participants are currently working to bring some of these conversations into a book project.
