Every year since 1900 there has been an annual tradition of Christmas Bird Counts (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Bird_Count).

This year, as part of A Rocha’s local work to support conservation and be part of the local community, we would like to invite you to two related events.

First, on December 8 at Ruthven Park from 9 am to about noon, we would like to invite your children (or grand-children) to a Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids. This will include bird watching, banding, and some snacks and hot chocolate in the banding lab.

If you know of any children who might be interested, please let me know. We’re happy to arrange some rides from Hamilton as well.

Second, the “adult” version of the Hamilton CBC, organized by the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, takes place on Boxing day. This is typically an all day event, but people can participate for just a few hours.

I will be organizing a group to help out with this event. If you’re interested in joining us, please let Peter Scholtens know (email below). If we have a large group, we could split up and cover two areas.

Email peter.scholtens@arocha.ca to keep up with the latest events and news from Hamilton A Rocha.
