Thank you for praying for us on this Toronto trip. Leah and I are just on route back to Vancouver. What a remarkable 48 hours. We are somewhat stunned, giving thanks, and shaking our heads laughing at the sequence of events that we could not even have dreamt of choreographing.
On arrival, the nice spectator role that I had very happily carved out for myself (while Leah did all the talking with Margaret Atwood and Lorna Dueck) vanished with an email from Context saying that they wanted me on the set with Leah so that Margaret could interview both of us as part of the show. We are still shaking our heads and laughing about it all. God seems to be at work. Margaret Atwood tweeted about A Rocha and “Planted” very favourably to her 450,000 followers. She loved Leah and is already well on her way to reading “Planted”. She also offered to write a review of “Planted” for Sojourners. It will be fun to see where it all goes:). The show won’t be airing until the new year sometime – we will keep you posted.
The live audience was stacked with A Rocha friends, supporters, and team members Luke Wilson and Paul Abell. Nico Bauman from Jelly Marketing was a star publicist helping out all the way through the evening.
We really connected with Margaret back stage getting our makeup done in the same room Don Cherry is dolled up in his suits and ties. Context is based at CBC and they use the same studio space as Hockey Night in Canada! How cool is that. It really helped “break the ice” (no pun intended) with Margaret to be able to bring greetings from A Rocha International Trustees Chair Rebecca Irvin. Rebecca has worked with Margaret through her role at Rolex.

To top it all off, just before I went to CBC studios, I had tea with our friend Mark Petersen at the Bridgeway Foundation offices on Bay Street. It turns out its in the same building as the Hockey Hall of Fame where the Stanley Cup lives!
It doesn’t get any more Canadian that, eh!
Thanks be to God.
Markku
