Project Description

Stream Restoration

In the summer of 2024, we focused our restoration efforts on restoring one section of a stream, within a Provincially Significant Wetland. This stream formed some of the headwaters of Bronte Creek and flowed into Lake Ontario. This section of the stream was eroding due to a failed culvert which ran under a footpath on the property. Our work was to daylight the stream and remove the failed culvert. We added a bridge to connect the footpath and stabilized the banks with a combination of field stone, jute mat and riparian plantings. This work has resulted in halting the erosion, providing more riparian habitat and removing any barriers to fish passage.
