Summer 2015 has been an incredible season of growth at Cedar Haven Farm!
In addition to our volunteer days held on the Saturday of every month, we have also welcomed visitors to the farm throughout the summer to explore, fellowship, and get their hands dirty in some sustainable agriculture and conservation work.

We’ve hosted several church day camps full of fun and learning for children aged 5-12 from three different Hamilton churches. We also had the pleasure of hosting kids from The Grub Club, a kids’ club from the north end of Hamilton.
In total, over 300 kids will have visited this summer! Many of them come from the inner city of Hamilton and are able to participate in church day camps with the help of a great organization called City Kidz.

We’ve also had the chance to host visitors from group homes and supported living organizations like Indwell. We’re planning for a couple of other organizations to come visit later this season. This project has been called “Operation: Wild” and is geared towards hosting people from the city who have limited access to nature.
We’ve hosted a small group of newcomers to Canada from Micah House, and in September we’re hoping to invite newcomers from our Earth-to-Table project in the Beasely neighbourhood to come explore as well!

Churches from the area have also started making their way out to Cedar Haven to share meals and explore the property. St. Clair Community Church recently visited the farm, and enjoyed a time of feasting, visiting the animals, and learning more about the A Rocha story.
Outdoor environmental education is one of the pillars of A Rocha’s work in Hamilton. Through hands-on learning, our education programs foster a sense of wonder in the created world and for the Creator Himself. Click here for a video on how A Rocha is inspiring kids!
We are incredibly thankful for those who have found their way to Cedar Haven! We look forward to hosting even more guests at our stargazing and camping event in August. If you’re interested in coming out for a visit please email: hamilton@arocha.ca.
