Upcoming Camps

In Manitoba, A Rocha is inspiring children to experience the beauty and wonder in the world around them, from the forest to their backyards. A Rocha’s summer day camps are full of games, stories, crafts, pond-dipping and singing in the great outdoors, all of which allow children to explore the created world in a safe and wonder-filled environment. Thanks to generous funding from The Winnipeg Foundation and our other partners, we are able to keep our camps at very affordable rates.

FAQs

As a Christian conservation organization we strive to create warm, inclusive, quality environmental education programs that care for creation and equip others to do likewise. Our goal is to inspire hope, wonder and curiosity through hands-on, place-based immersive science education. By providing students with the opportunity to expand their eco-literacy and familiarity with the natural world, our desire is that as a reflection of this knowledge, their appreciation, care and love of that space deepen and develop alongside their learning and exploration.

Our work reflects our belief that God loves all of creation and calls humanity to act as stewards of that creation – both the human and non-human bits

Diving Deeper into our Christian theology:

We aim to provide inclusive programming for a wide range of cultural backgrounds within our community. With that in mind, we welcome insights from all cultures to address environmental challenges- to learn and grow from one another, while remaining rooted in our calling to care for creation out of a love from the Creator.

This program is open to learners of all abilities, but please let us know about any concerns you may have at registration so that we can prepare accordingly.  For students that do require additional support, such as a personal EA, it is the responsibility of parent(s) or guardian(s) to provide this support. (Whether it be a family member or privately arranged support staff is up to the caregiver’s discretion.)

All children attending the program must be able to use the washroom independently. For children that require support with this, a support person for the child will need to attend as described above.

If additional support is being arranged, please inform us of the name of the support person and their relation to the student at mb.education@arocha.ca.

It depends on the location! Each of our locations have accessible indoor space if needed due to weather or air quality concerns. We endeavour to spend as much time outside as possible!

At  A Rocha we encourage hands-on education and natural play. With this approach, a few minor scrapes and bruises are not uncommon. On the rare occasion of an emergency, we are prepared with first-aid trained staff members on-site at all times and protocols in place for any emergency situation.

For more information on our Risky Play Practices see this document: Risky Play Practices

If you have specific concerns please contact us at mb.education@arocha.ca

For the most part, these programs will run rain or shine (or snow). We approach inclement weather as a learning tool, rather than a deterrent. If it is hot, we find shade and water. If it is cold, we layer up. If it rains, we go jump in puddles!

However, if severe weather (eg. lightning storm, extreme heat or cold) poses a danger to our students, we will take appropriate measures to ensure everyone’s safety.

*Please note: this is a predominantly outdoor program. We recognize that being outside all day may be challenging for some children, so it is up to you to determine whether your child is ready for this kind of outdoor experience.

Yes, we do. We strive to create safe, healthy work and learning environments for students, staff and anyone attending our programs. Please review our Health and Illness Policy here prior to attending this program.

Please reach out to us at mb.education@arocha.ca if you have any questions
