Stream & Fish Surveying
The Strabane Creek that flows through Cedar Haven is a tributary of the Bronte Creek, which empties into Lake Ontario. The health of a watershed begins at it’s source, so it is important to understand what is in the stream, as well as how healthy the streams are. Stream inventory projects help catalogue the different vertebrates that use waters on the property, such as fish, snakes, turtles, and amphibians. And Aquatic plant surveys determine the plants that exist within and along the stream as it runs through Cedar Haven. Our team is also searching for evidence of the provincially endangered Redside Dace (Clinostomus elongatus), a small unique fish that thrives in habitats similar to those found at Cedar Haven.
