SUMMARY:PA Day Nature Camp - St. Cuthbert's Church (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Spend your upcoming PA Day at St. Cuthbert’s Church with A Rocha Ontario!\nAt this 1-day nature camp\, your child will have the opportunity to learn about and build a personal connection to the natural world. Each nature camp program will be filled with nature experiences\, science experiments\, storytelling\, nature-based art and fun games! Together\, we will explore nature from both familiar and new perspectives\, building friendships and fond memories along the way. \nThis event is open to children ages 5-13. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of four fee options when registering: \n\nAccessible Rate: Choose this one if cost is a significant barrier to you attending and/or you identify as a member of a community facing systemic barriers to wealth accumulation (ie. you identify as BIPOC\, single-parent household\, low-income family\, etc).\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community. If you have any questions\, please reach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca. \nPayment & Registration\nPlease purchase 1 ticket per child you wish to register. After purchasing your Eventbrite ticket(s)\, please make sure to also fill out the registration form below. \n\n \n Purchase Ticket(s)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Complete Registration Form (MANDATORY)\nRegistration Form\n\n \n If this program is cancelled due to low enrolment or health and safety restrictions\, payment will be fully refundable. \nReach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca if you have any questions or visit arocha.ca/pa-day-nature-camp.

SUMMARY:Consider the Lilies Collective (Winnipeg\, MB)
DESCRIPTION:Consider the Lilies Collective\nMarch 7\, 2026 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm\nLocation: Grace Bible Church\nThere are many churches doing the work of caring for creation\, and there are others who want to start\, but need some ideas and support. Consider the Lilies Collective works to equip and connect you in your work to care for creation with your church\, whether you are just starting out\, or have been doing the work for years. \nJoin the A Rocha community for a morning of practical workshops and worship engaging our head\, hands\, and hearts for creation care. Snacks and coffee/tea will be provided. \nWorkshop #1: Can We Talk?: Having hard conversations about God’s earth\nwith Marta Bunnett Wiebe\, Peace & Advocacy Program Coordinator with Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba \nHave you ever found yourself in a conversation about environmental issues that felt more like an argument than a productive dialogue? Talking about climate change and biodiversity loss is one of the most important things we can do to address these big challenges\, but why do conversations about ecological issues routinely produce more heat than light even though we all rely on clean air\, water\, and soil? Caring for creation has never been more important. Biblically speaking\, humans are made to care for God’s world and at the same time we’re often overwhelmed by evidence of creation’s groaning. And yet\, simply talking about our concern for earthkeeping is often very challenging. \nThis seminar will focus on skills that equip us for constructive dialogue about contentious topics like biodiversity loss\, climate change\, and pollution. Even big changes usually begin in the midst of ordinary conversations. Join us as we learn how to interact in ways that foster trust\, identify common ground\, and build momentum towards shared goals. \nWhat to Expect: Practical training in how to have constructive dialogue about contentious topics. \nWorkshop #2: Churches Caring for Creation Idea Exchange\nwith a panel of people who have done practical projects at their churches \nSometimes the easiest way to start caring for creation is to do a hands-on project. This workshop will bring together various voices in the church to share about projects they have done\, from community gardens\, to art projects\, to bird boxes & more. \nRegistration covers the cost of snacks and coffee/tea.

SUMMARY:Native Seed Starting Workshop and Volunteer Day (ON)
DESCRIPTION:I don’t know about you\, but I’m counting the days until spring and until our habitat restoration work gets underway. The good news? We don’t have to wait.\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for a Native Plant Seed Starting Workshop and Volunteer Day. This will be a hands-on way to prepare now for the projects that will grow in the months ahead. \nWe’re grateful to be joined by Rick Wukash\, who has generously gathered and prepared a variety of native plant seeds for this workshop. Rick will guide us through the quiet marvel of seeds\, how they’re designed for resilience\, renewal\, and growth. He will also teach the practical skill of cold moist stratification\, an essential step for many native species. \nTogether\, we’ll plant trays of native plants that will later be used in our habitat restoration projects. Whether you’re new to restoration work or have soil permanently under your fingernails\, this afternoon will be a meaningful way to learn\, serve\, and invest in the healing of local ecosystems. \nCome get your hands dirty\, your hope stirred\, and your spring started early. \nWorkshop and Volunteering: 2:00 – 5:00pm EST \nSoup and bread supper to follow. \nAdults and families are welcome to participate. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.

SUMMARY:Church Earthkeepers Webinar: Good Things Grow Here
DESCRIPTION:This Month’s Church Earthkeepers: Let’s Learn Webinar \nGood Things Grow Here: Cultivating Native Plants as Congregational and Community Outreach\nThe biblical story begins in the garden of Eden and ends in a garden city. What might happen if our church grounds more intentionally reflected this story? \nIn this practical and inspiring webinar\, Paul Wiemerslage will guide church leaders through the key design steps for creating a native plant garden on church property\, from discerning goals and assessing your site\, to selecting the right plants and preparing the soil. He will also address the question of maintenance\, offering realistic guidance on what to consider ahead of time so that these gardens can thrive long term. \nAlong the way\, we’ll explore how native plant gardens can be places of welcome for both human and non-human creatures\, as well as support other aspects of congregational and missional life. Join us as we learn how to create houses of worship that glorify God by contributing to the flourishing of all God’s creatures. \nNote: The event will be recorded. Please sign up to receive the link to the recording after the event has ended. \nRegisterAbout our speaker: \n \nPaul Wiemerslage is Director of Community programs for Au Sable Institute\, a faith-based environmental organization located in Northern Michigan.  Au Sable’s mission is to inspire and educate people to serve\, protect\, and restore God’s earth. \nIn his role\, Paul leads the Institute’s community outreach efforts\, developing programs that engage local schools\, houses of worship\, and partner organizations in environmental education and community-led habitat restoration projects.   In support of these efforts\, Paul also oversees Au Sable’s greenhouse and native plant propagation program that produces more than 20\,000 native plants a year for use in their programming. \nA husband and father of two girls\, Paul enjoys gardening\, fishing\, and biking with his family. He looks forward to the day when travel hockey doesn’t consume the bulk of his winter and instinctively trusts anyone with dog hair on them. \nMore about the Monthly Church Earthkeepers Meet-Up: \nAre you mobilizing your church to care for creation? Do you wish more people shared your interest? Then join like-minded folks for the Church Earthkeepers virtual event series with a renewed rhythm. This is part of our brand new church engagement program\, Becoming an Earthkeeping Church. You can find out more at the newly designed program webpage: Igniting Creation Care in Churches. \nNot able to make the meetup but keen to find out more? Select one of each if you would like to send your camper for both days!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIs this camp right for my child?\nAs a Christian conservation organization we strive to create warm\, inclusive\, quality environmental education programs that care for creation and equip others to do likewise. Our goal is to inspire hope\, wonder and curiosity through hands-on\, place-based immersive science education. By providing students with the opportunity to expand their eco-literacy and familiarity with the natural world\, our desire is that as a reflection of this knowledge\, their appreciation\, care and love of that space deepen and develop alongside their learning and exploration. \nOur work reflects our belief that God loves all of creation and calls humanity to act as stewards of that creation – both the human and non-human bits \nDiving Deeper into our Christian theology: \nWe aim to provide inclusive programming for a wide range of cultural backgrounds within our community. With that in mind\, we welcome insights from all cultures to address environmental challenges- to learn and grow from one another\, while remaining rooted in our calling to care for creation out of a love from the Creator. \nClick here for more information.
