SUMMARY:Nature Journaling Skill Building Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Nature Journaling Skill Building Retreat\n\n\nSpend time digging into the skills needed for Nature Journaling including sketching\, watercolor\, nature writing and curiosity. \n\nThis retreat is focused on building skills used in Nature Journaling. Practice sketching techniques\, watercolor\, nature writing and scientific curiosity to help bring your journal pages to life. Hone your skills\, meet new friends and connect with the natural world in a way that is both creative and scientific. DESCRIPTION:Spend your upcoming PA Day at Flamborough Baptist Church with A Rocha Ontario!\nAt this 1-day nature camp\, your child will have the opportunity to learn about and build a personal connection to the natural world. Each nature camp program will be filled with nature experiences\, science experiments\, storytelling\, nature-based art and fun games! Together\, we will explore nature from both familiar and new perspectives\, building friendships and fond memories along the way. \nThis event is open to children ages 5-13. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of four fee options when registering: \n\nAccessible Rate: Choose this one if cost is a significant barrier to you attending and/or you identify as a member of a community facing systemic barriers to wealth accumulation (ie. you identify as BIPOC\, single-parent household\, low-income family\, etc).\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha Ottawa for a skate and walk along the canal\, followed by an evening program on Saturday\, January 31st!\n2:30 pm Skating or walking along the canal. Meet at Chris Babcock’s house\, 90 Fifth Ave. Led by Rob Samulack (call Rob Samulack if you have any questions 613-408-5958). \n7:00 pm Evening Program at Christ Babcock’s house\, 90 Fifth Ave. \nWe will watch a videorecording of “A Rocha Ontario’s 2025 Year in Review and Vision for the Future” that was held on Jan. 14. Amanda Hildebrand\, Ontario Program Director\, and Paul Heintzman\, will join by zoom to answer any questions that arise from watching the video. \nIf you are unable to attend the outdoor activities\, you are still welcome to join for the potluck supper and evening program. \nParking: It may be difficult to find parking near 90 Fifth Ave. so give yourself plenty of time to find a parking spot. Please pay special attention to the parking signs and make sure that you are not parking on a street that has limited parking hours on Saturdays—some streets do and others do not. 90 Fifth Ave. is easily accessible by OC Transpo\, so we encourage those who can\, to travel by bus to this event. \nRSVP: Please RSVP to paul.heintzman@arocha.ca by midnight on Friday\, January 30 so I can provide both Rob and Chris with a list of people who will be attending.
