DESCRIPTION:Join us for Explore Our Ecosystems Pro-D Day on May 5 (Surrey School District)!\nVenture into the various ecosystems in the Tatalu River (Little Campbell River) watershed! Get to know your ‘neighbours’ up close and personal and discover what is so fascinating about them! \n\nFor children ages 6 – 12 (attending kindergarten this school year)\nCamp runs from 9am to 3pm.\nCome dressed for an active day outside (rain or shine). Wear gear for the weather: covered shoes / boots\, hat\, sunscreen and rain jacket. (No umbrellas\, please–you need your hands free!)\nBring extra set of clothing and socks.\nBring your own snacks (both morning and afternoon)\, hearty lunch & water bottle.\n\nHow to Register: \nRegistration is now a simple one step process! Scroll down to see the Eventbrite registration\, click on it and select the number of child registration. Take time to fill in all the required information in one sitting\, pay and you are all set! \n If you would like financial assistance- Contact us for more information and we will consider your request on a case by case basis.  \nCANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS:   \nFamilies withdrawing with more than two weeks’ notice will be refunded full registration cost minus the Eventbrite administrative fee. SUMMARY:2023 Bird Blitz (Houston\, BC)
DESCRIPTION:Join local birders to count as many species of birds as we can in a 48 hour period. Count birds at your feeders\, on your walks\, during your activities or at an official A Rocha event and report them to the “2023 Bird Blitz Houston BC” project on iNaturalist: https://inaturalist.ca/projects/2023-houston-birdblitz \nA Rocha Events: \nFriday\, May 26 \n12:01 am – Let the counting begin. \n7 pm – Beginner Birdwatcher Walk \nBring your family and meet at the dock at the Houston Duck Pond for this family friendly guided interpretive walk to learn how to identify birds by sight and sound. \nSaturday\, May 27 \n7 am – Bird Nerds Unite \nBirders meet at the Nature Centre to create teams and coordinate locations for the day. (The team with the most recorded species will win a prize.) \n6 pm – Wrap-up Campfire \nJoin us for an appetizer potluck and campfire at the Nature Centre to tally the count for the day\, find out who wins the prize for the most species counted and hear stories of birding in the Bulkley Valley by local bird watchers. \n12:00 Midnight – Last records accepted for official count.
