SUMMARY:Lamenting Lost Creeks: A Lenten Journey (Winnipeg\, MB)
DESCRIPTION:Lent is a solemn Christian practice of reflection\, repentance\, prayer and fasting. This 40 day period leading up to Easter invites Christians to intentionally set aside time to deepen one’s faith and commitment to God. \nYou are invited on a lenten journey focused on lamenting with God and creation for creeks and rivers that have been lost\, degraded\, or altered as a result of human demand. \nWhat will this journey look like? Once per week Scott will host a prayer walk in the location of a lost creek in the city of Winnipeg. The walk will begin with a short opening prayer and brief acknowledgment of this creek’s history. In addition\, Scott will share briefly about another river in Canada and/or the world to be held in prayer/solidarity along with the place and people who are impacted by the demands placed on it.   \nWe will walk for a total 30mins (return). During our walk you are invited to contemplate\, pray (silently)\, and if you are able pick up garbage (bring gloves/bags). \nRSVP HereSchedule: Click the link for google maps directions\nWEEK 1: 6pm Monday – February 27 – Omands Creek: meet at the Chapters parking lot off Empress St. \nWEEK 2: 6pm Monday – March 6 – Colony Creek: Meet at the west entrance of Mostyn Place Park (street parking) \nWEEK 3: 6pm Monday – March 13 – Brown’s Creek: Meet beside the roundabout at Stephen Juba park (street parking)  \nWEEK 4: 6pm Monday – March 20 – Inkster’s Creek: meet at the parking lot across from the Witch’s Hut in Kildonan Park  \nWEEK 5: 6pm Monday – March 27 – McLeod’s Creek: meet at Edison Park (street parking) \nWEEK 6: 6pm Monday – April 3 – Seine River: CHANGE of location! SUMMARY:Winter Activities\, Potluck Supper and Evening Program (Ottawa/Gatineau\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha Ottawa for our Winter Activities\, Potluck Supper and Evening Program! \nIf you are unable to the afternoon activities\, feel free to join us for supper and the evening program. \nSchedule:\n2:00 pm Winter Activities \nJoin us in Gatineau Park for winter outdoor activities including hiking\, snowshoeing\, and cross-country skiing. You can choose your activity. We will lead a group cross-country ski for anyone who would like to join us. We have plenty of cross-country ski equipment available for those who don’t have any. If you intend to snowshoe you will need to bring your own snowshoes. Meet at 264 Kingsmere at 2:00 pm. (for directions or for a ride please send an e-mail to: paul.heintzman@arocha.ca ). \n5:30 pm Potluck Supper \nPlease RSVP and let us know what you plan to bring so that we can plan accordingly. \n7:00 pm Creation Care in Precarity: Challenges and Opportunities for Environmental Action in Malawi with Vivian and Blair Bertrand \nRegardless of the metric\, the small but populous central African country Malawi is ranked among the poorest in the world. With a land mass totaling approximately the size of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia\, the 21 million people put extreme pressure on the land for survival. At the same time\, Malawi has a large number of Christians. How can they faithfully respond to the acute environmental crisis they face (but have not necessarily created) and continue to advocate for the poorest of the poor? \nVivian and Blair Bertrand lived in Malawi from 2017-2020. Vivian worked for an NGO called Churches Action Relief Development (CARD) and for the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). She currently works for Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Blair continues to work for Zomba Theological University as a Senior Lecturer. They live in Barrhaven with two of their children (Sage 15\, Zoe 10) while their third is studying biology at Simon Fraser University (Garrett\, 18). \nPlease RSVP paul.heintzman@arocha.ca to let us know if you will be attending and what you will be bringing for the potluck supper.

SUMMARY:Spring Equinox Wild Church (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Ever thought that it would make sense to worship God outside—where the beauty of creation is obvious? A Rocha Ontario is happy to partner again with two local church leaders\, Nina Schuurman-Drenth and Rebecca Vendetti\, to host Wild Church this March to celebrate the upcoming spring equinox! Join us for a family-friendly liturgy of co-worshiping with God’s creation. Together\, we’ll gather\, pray\, wander\, contemplate\, and generally delight in the good world God has made. We encourage you to dress for the weather and bring something to sit on! \nUpdate: Due to poor snow conditions for parking at the Cedar Haven Eco-Centre\, Wild Church will now be hosted at Princess Point (Hamilton\, ON). As Princess Point has more parking and is accessible via other forms of transportation\, we no longer have parking limitations.
