DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha’s Brooksdale conservation team for a morning of habitat restoration and enhancement.\nGet your hands dirty planting native trees and shrubs\, removing exotic invasive vegetation (such as Himalayan blackberry or English Ivy)\, building fences to keep livestock away from watercourses\, creating new wetlands and much more. \nThe team will meet at Brooksdale Environmental Centre (1620 192 St – Surrey\, BC) and will travel to the restoration site from there. We hope to see you at our other community events this summer! \n********************** \nJoin us for a monthly community hike as we explore Hamilton’s trails and natural spaces. \n[Cancelled] 6pm\, April 25\, 2019 // Windermere Basin Trail \n(This is a great spot for birding\, so bring your binoculars!) \nWe will gather here at 6pm and we will start walking at 6:15pm. The hike will be no more than 1hr long. \nWe realize that everyone walks at a different pace\, but this hike is for everyone—no one will be rushed! \nLet us know if you can make it by sending us an e-mail at ontario@arocha.ca or meet us on the day of! \n

DESCRIPTION:There’s more to birds than meets the eye; bird “watching” is only a half baked pie! \nJoin us for food and conversation with Mark Huebert\, who will share with us about his love of birds. \n \nMark Huebert flew to Malaysia to win the hand of his lovebird (and wife) Neena.  They have two nestlings\, ages 6 and 8. Mark grew up in St. Vital and while earning his way through university spent about 5 months (over 5 different years) doing bird monitoring work in the boreal forests of southern Manitoba. During this time he also developed an appreciation for wildflowers\, insects and other creatures that share the land with us. Mark currently is a teacher at The King’s School. \nRSVP to zoe.matties@arocha.ca by April 24\nLocation: 91 Harvard Ave (home of Alvina Pankratz) \nBring a $3-$5 donation to cover the cost of the meal.
