SUMMARY:An Evening at A Rocha (Surrey\, BC)
DESCRIPTION:After spending the day working with the community at Brooksdale\, Karri Munn-Venn (Senior Policy Analyst with Citizens for Public Justice) will be giving a presentation on local environmental action\, political engagement\, and how both are needed as part of our Christian response to the global climate crisis. \nFor more information\, please contact Lindsay Vander Hoek. This event is open to the public and free of charge. \nKarri Munn-Venn\n(Senior Policy Analyst – Citizens for Public Justice)\nInspired by the Old Testament call “to seek justice\, love kindness and walk humbly with your God\,” (Micah 6:8) and driven by the belief that\, working together\, we can build a better world\, Karri is an enthusiastic advocate for positive social change. \nKarri has over fifteen years experience in the international development community and a strong background in policy analysis\, network coordination\, and government relations. She co-chaired the Global Economic Justice Program Committee of KAIROS and sat on the International Affairs Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. She was also the Coordinator of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation’s Americas Policy Group for several years. \nAs Citizens for Public Justice’s Senior Policy Analyst\, Karri provides leadership in organizational efforts to influence systemic change to eliminate poverty in Canada and address climate change globally. She was the founding Coordinator of Dignity for All: The Campaign for a Poverty-Free Canada\, and co-editor of Living Ecological Justice: A Biblical Response to the Environmental Crisis (2013) and Living Justice: A Gospel Response to Poverty (2011). \nKarri has a Master’s Degree from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (Carleton University) and an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Political Science (York University).
