Get to know the quiet giants of the forest through the senses\, ecological games and science. \nSpend the week exploring wildlife and plant ecology\, tracks and signs\, adaptations and the complex system by which all living things in an ecosystem are connected. Discover all the different types of trees and understand how they serve different purposes in our interconnected world. Learn how trees impact the animal world\, and humans too! Come\, explore and have a “tree-mendous” week! \n\nFor children ages 6 – 12 (finished kindergarten).\nCamp runs from 9am to 3pm.\nCome dressed for an active day outside (rain or shine). Wear gear for the weather: hats\, gloves\, boots and rain protection. (No umbrellas\, please–you need your hands free!)\nBring extra set of clothing and socks.\nBring your own snacks (both morning and afternoon)\, lunch & water bottle.\nBring hand sanitizer and mask. In this A Rocha Talk we’ll hear from people that have used the weight of ecological concerns to fuel action and engagement. Learn how you\, too\, can join in responding to the groaning of creation and the renewal of all things. \nWe will converse with: \n\nLowell Bliss\, a missionary with more than 15 years of experience in mobilizing Christians in climate actions\, the co-funding director of Christian Climate Observers Program (CCOP) and the Climate Intercessors initiative.\nPeter Fargo\, a national park manager turned climate advocate in recent years\, and now the co-founder of Climate Vigil.\nEllie Auton-Strolz\, a former intern at A Rocha’s Brooksdale Centre\, currently studying at UBC. She participated at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow UK last November through CCOP.

SUMMARY:Church Earthkeepers Meet-Up
DESCRIPTION:Once a month meet-up with people mobilizing earthkeeping at churches.\nAre you mobilizing your church to care for creation? Do you wish more people shared your interest? Then join like-minded folks for a Church Earthkeepers Meet-Up. At these monthly sessions we’ll learn from each other by swapping stories as a way to encourage and equip us to catalyze earthkeeping at church. Come prepared to share your ideas and to hear what works for others as we build a network of regular people working to care for creation within a local church setting. \nThese online gatherings will take place the last Tuesday of every month at 5 PM – 6 PM Pacific Time (8 PM – 9 PM Eastern Time). The following are the scheduled dates for the next six months: \n\nJune 28\nJuly 26\nAugust 30\nSeptember 27\nOctober 25\nNovember 29\n\nDetails including the Zoom link will be available upon registration.

DESCRIPTION:Enter into the daily hands-on rhythms of life on a farm: growing food and caring for animals\, as well as the ecosystems around us!\nJoin us for our Farm Life Day Camp! We will spend every day outdoors\, participating in all the daily farm and field activities around A Rocha’s Brooksdale Environmental Centre. Enjoy hands-on activities and discover connections to life in our ecosystems! \nNote: Camp 1 may have a different rhythm from Camp 2\, depending on the seasonal work that needs to be done. You can sign up for both camps if you feel this unique experience would be beneficial and enjoyable for your child.  \n\nFor children ages 6 – 12 (finished kindergarten).\nCamp runs from 9am to 3pm.\nCome dressed for an active day outside (rain or shine). Wear gear for the weather: hats\, boots and sun/rain protection. (No umbrellas\, please)\nBring extra set of clothing and socks.\nBring your own snacks (both morning and afternoon)\, lunch & water bottle.\nBring hand sanitizer and mask. Count birds at your feeders\, on your walks\, during your activities or at an official A Rocha event and report them to the “2022 Bird Blitz Houston BC” project on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/2022-bird-blitz-houston-bc \nA Rocha Events: \nFriday\, May 27 \n12:01 am – Let the counting begin. \n6 pm – Duck Pond “Learn to Bird” walk. \nBring your family and meet at the dock at the Duck Pond for this family friendly guided interpretive walk to learn how to identify birds by sight and sound. \nSaturday\, May 28 \n7 am – Bird Nerds Unite \nBirders meet at the Nature Centre to create teams and coordinate locations for the day. DESCRIPTION:The John Stott memorial birding day is a global one-day event run by A Rocha on May 14\, 2022 to commemorate and celebrate A Rocha’s great friend and supporter John Stott’s legacy as a theologian\, pastor and birdwatcher in his centenary year. Whether you are a novice or an expert birder\, we invite you to join friends old and new to head into the great outdoors and enjoy the birds wherever you are in God’s good creation. For more information on this day check out the John Stott Birding Day website. \nA Rocha Manitoba will be heading out to the Boreal Ecology Centre for the day to do some recreational birding\, have an outdoor picnic lunch together\, and walk the trails.  \nWhen: May 14\, 2021 – 9 am – 5 pm (although you are welcome to come earlier!)\nWhere: Boreal Ecology Centre (East Braintree\, MB) \nOur aim will be to walk as many of the trails on the property as we can\, so be sure to come equipped with proper hiking gear. This includes layers\, waterproof hiking shoes or boots\, hiking poles\, and backpack. It will also be valuable to have binoculars. DESCRIPTION:We are completely dependent on healthy and vibrant ecosystems for our food\, water\, fuel\, shelter\, medicines\, clothes and energy\, just to name a few. Come and discover with us how we can be a part of the solution of conserving biodiversity!\n\nFor children Grade K – 7.\nCamp runs from 9am to 3pm.\nCome dressed for an active day outside (rain or shine). Wear gear for the weather: hats\, boots and sun/rain protection. (No umbrellas\, please)\nBring extra set of clothing and socks.\nBring your own snack (both morning and afternoon)\, lunch & water bottle.\nBring hand sanitizer and mask. We’ll use masks for activities where we’re in close proximity to one another. *(following the most current BC protocols)\n\nHow to Register \nRegistration is a 3-step process: \n1. Sign up\, and make payment through Eventbrite. If you would like financial assistance- Contact us for more information. \n2. Download and complete the Day Camp Registration Form and Parent Information & Agreement Form.
