We will be meeting at the Bruce Trail Parking Lot on Twiss Rd (7342 Twiss Rd\, Campbellville\, ON) at 10am ET. Our hike will last around 2 hours\, and we ask that you carpool with others as there is limited parking available. \nFor children under the age of 12\, please purchase a children’s ticket. Please note that all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of three fee options when registering: \n\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community. Children age 4 and under are eligible to attend for free but registration is still required; remember to select the “young child” ticket option. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. If you have any questions\, please reach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca. \nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Thanks to the Greenbelt Foundation\nWith the support of the Greenbelt Foundation\, A Rocha Ontario is able to promote habitat conservation\, especially within Ontario’s Greenbelt\, through our projects\, programs\, and workshops. \nLearn more about Ontario’s Greenbelt at www.greenbelt.ca.

Counts happen in over 2000 localities throughout the Western Hemisphere. \nThe information collected by thousands of volunteer participants forms one of the world’s largest sets of wildlife survey data. The results are used daily by conservation biologists and naturalists to assess the population trends and distribution of birds. \nEach Christmas Bird Count is conducted on a single day between December 14 and January 5. Counts are carried out within a 24-km diameter circle that stays the same from year to year. They are organized\, usually as group efforts\, at the local level\, often by a birding club or naturalist organization. \nThis is a great opportunity to explore the birds that we have in and around the Boreal Ecology Centre and engage people in conducting citizen science. This is part of the work that we want to take on in order to promote connections at the Boreal Ecology Centre that can contribute to conservation.
