SUMMARY:Church EarthKeepers Meet-Up (June 2025)
DESCRIPTION:A Preview of This Month’s Church Earth Keepers Meetup: \nIncreasingly\, traditional missions organizations are incorporating the care of creation into their ministries. For years\, Jasmine Kwong has been advocating for this change and working to equip it. Join us this month\, for a conversation with Jasmine\, as we explore both the possibilities and the challenges she sees on the horizon. \nAbout our speaker this month: \nBased in the Philippines\, Jasmine is a creation care advocate with OMF International and a Catalyst for Creation Care with the Lausanne Movement. With a background in conservation biology and community development\, she often works in the intersections between people and the natural world. Her particular interests are in food issues and marine conservation. \nMore about the Monthly Church Earth keepers Meetup: \nAre you mobilizing your church to care for creation? Do you wish more people shared your interest? Then join like-minded folks for a Church Earth keepers Meet-Up. At these monthly sessions we’ll learn from each other by swapping stories as a way to encourage and equip us to catalyze earth keeping at church. Come prepared to share your ideas and to hear what works for others as we build a network of regular people working to care for creation within a local church setting. \n\nAugust 26\nSeptember 30\nOctober 28\n\nDetails including the Zoom link will be available upon registration. \n\nBuy Tickets on Eventbrite\n\nBuy Tickets

SUMMARY:Butterfly ID Workshop (Cedar Haven)
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 21st as we delve into the world of butterflies led by our guest biologist: Brenda Van RysWyk!\nBrenda has over 20 years of experience in identifying and helping to restore butterflies in Ontario. At this event\, we will have a chance to connect with each other as well as learn more about butterfly habitat and conservation concerns. Following this time\, we will have time to catch and ID the local butterfly population. This event will take place at the Cedar Haven Eco-Centre\, which is located in the ecologically rich and diverse area of Ontario’s Greenbelt. \nThis event is open to participants over the age of 12. Please register below. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of three fee options when registering: \n\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community. If you have any questions\, please reach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca. \nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Thanks to the Greenbelt Foundation\nWith the support of the Greenbelt Foundation\, A Rocha Ontario is able to promote habitat conservation\, especially within Ontario’s Greenbelt\, through our projects\, programs\, and workshops. \nLearn more about Ontario’s Greenbelt at www.greenbelt.ca.

SUMMARY:Christian Witness in Our Ecological Age: Panel Discussion (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha Ontario for a panel discussion on Saturday\, May 31st to explore the topic of Christian Witness in Our Ecological Age!\n\nOur current ecological age is one of rapid change. We are losing forests\, fields\, and agricultural land as cities continue to expand and sprawl. There are more and more extreme weather events linked with a changing climate. We have seen a significant decrease in many wildlife populations and an increase in the rate of species extinctions. Humans are witnessing many changes\, difficulties\, and complexities in our current ecological age.\n\nHave you ever felt overwhelmed by these environmental challenges? Have you ever thought\, “what does Jesus say about all of this?” or “How should I live in light of all that is going on?” Or perhaps you have considered this carefully and have recieved push-back from Christians who do not see the value in creation care. Or maybe you’ve heard some people in secular settings say that Christians are the ones who are harming the environment the most.\n\nHow do we build bridges in this area with others? What does it look like to understand their values to find connection and shared action to care for the earth?\n\nThese are some of the questions that we would like to explore together with the help of our panelist\, who have experience in restoration ecology\, soil health\, and environmental literature. All are encouraged to bring your own questions for our panelists and participate in our group discussion time at the end. Register below to join us.\n\nRegister Below

DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 26th (new date) for our Vernal Pools workshop\, led by local environmental educator and friend of A Rocha Ontario\, Mary-Ann Meyer.\nTogether\, we will explore these ephemeral habitats and their unique species with special adaptations and life histories while taking a hike in the Bruce Trail. We will be meeting at the Bruce Trail Parking Lot on Twiss Rd (7342 Twiss Rd\, Campbellville\, ON) at 10am ET. Our hike will last around 2 hours\, and we ask that you carpool with others as there is limited parking available. \nFor children under the age of 12\, please purchase a children’s ticket. Please note that all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please register below. \nUpdate: Please note that this event has been rescheduled to Saturday\, April 26th.\nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too!
