SUMMARY:Book Launch: Keeping Faith in Fundraising (Vancouver\, BC)
DESCRIPTION:A Book Launch celebrating Keeping Faith in Fundraising\nFeaturing Author Rod Wilson\nCo-Hosted by Regent College & A Rocha Canada\nYou are invited to Rod Wilson’s book launch for Keeping Faith in Fundraising. This is a book that gently\, practically and biblically offers insight into the “centrality of our common mission as brothers and sisters to both give and receive money in a way that reflects Jesus.” (Eugene Peterson) \nCo-hosted by \n\nJeff Greenman\, President of Regent College\nMarkku Kostamo\, President of A Rocha Canada\n\nFeaturing live music\, refreshments and thoughtful words from Rod Wilson. \n\nDrawing on strong biblical foundations and decades of stories\, Wilson and Harris here present the transformative power of relationships in navigating faith-based fundraising. I am excited to see the radical change that will happen when this practical guide is put in the hands of church\, parachurch\, and non-profit organizations. \nPaul Lorimer\n(The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada) \n\nBuy the Book\nKeeping Faith in Fundraising will be available at the event. \nTo order a copy from Canada\, contact the Regent College Bookstore (604-228-1820) or order online through Amazon.ca. \nTo order a copy from the USA visit Eerdmans.com. \nSpread the Word\nDownload & share the poster \nShare on Facebook

You can choose your activity. We will lead a group cross-country ski for anyone who would like to join us. We have plenty of cross-country ski equipment available for those who don’t have any. If you intend to snowshoe you will need to bring your own snowshoes. Meet at 264 Kingsmere at 2:00 pm. (please RSVP for directions or if you need a ride). \n  \nPotluck Supper (5:30 pm)\nPlease RSVP and let us know what you plan to bring so that we can plan accordingly. \nFilm: Making Peace with Creation (7:00 pm)\n[youtube id=”K58eechXY_Q” width=”1280″ height=”720″ autoplay=”no” api_params=”&rel=0″ class=””]\nPoet and theologian Loren Wilkinson has spent his life thinking\, teaching\, and campaigning about the environment—or creation\, as he prefers to call it. In an era that has seen growing concern about climate change and the impact of industry and technology\, Professor Wilkinson has insisted that this is a critical sphere for Christian thought and action. From their home on Galiano Island off the coast of British Columbia\, he and his wife\, Mary-Ruth Wilkinson\, have encouraged generations of students to think long and hard about the meaning of creation and of our responsibility as creatures within it. \n\nWhat can be done to address the enormous issues facing our fragile and threatened planet?\nIs it possible to live confidently and creatively in the face of massive problems such as pollution and the acidification of the oceans?\nWhat hope is there of making peace with creation?\n\nIn this hour-long film\, made with the assistance of a team of students from Regent College\, Loren Wilkinson goes in search of answers to these pressing questions. Through personal reflections (set both in the beautiful Gulf Islands where he lives and in the urban context of Vancouver\, where he continues to teach)\, stimulating conversations with leading thinkers\, artists and activists\, and specially created art work\, together with extracts from his poetry\, Loren Wilkinson presents his own compelling and beautiful vision for human life in the 21st century. \nIf you are unable to join us for the afternoon activities\, feel free to join us for the potluck supper and/or film.\nFor more details please email Paul Heintzman.\nUpcoming Event in Ottawa\n\nSaturday May 20\, 2017: Wildflower Walk\, Potluck Supper and an evening with Markku and Leah Kostamo (co-founders of A Rocha Canada).\nLeah Kostamo will also be participating in a dialogue with Margaret Atwood on the topic of The Future of Religion in Canada on the evening of Friday May 19 at the University of Ottawa.

SUMMARY:Nature Talk: The Underground World of Fungi (Morden\, MB)
DESCRIPTION:There is an mind-boggling amount of life in the soil beneath our feet\, which is misunderstood by many. However\, the underground world of fungi is fascinating and mysterious. Therefore\, this Nature Talk’s topic is the diversity of fungal life in Manitoba and how it connects to above ground life. \nDr. Diana Bizecki Robson\, the presenter of the talk\, is the Curator of Botany at the Manitoba Museum. One of Dr. Robson’s key areas of study is the prairies\, which includes a lot of mycological activity. Also\, she has found that mushrooms have become a point of delicious interest to her in her studies. You can read her botany blog here. \nThe Underground World of Fungi promises to be an exciting talk. We hope it will equip people to see this often over-looked part of nature. Also\, it will teach participants how to collect and specimens. \nWhen: March 9th\, 2017\, 7:30pm-9:30pm \nWhere: Morden Adult Education Centre\, 200-30 Stephen Street

SUMMARY:Nature Talk: Back to Eden Film Screening (Winkler\, MB)
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Back to Eden’ film tells the story of Paul Gautschi as he learns techniques for organic gardening. Through this process\, he finds that these lessons help deepen his faith and understand God more clearly. \nPaul moved from California to Washington where he hoped to build a garden to feed his family. However\, he quickly discovered that regardless of his effort he couldn’t grow food there due to a lack of water. This caused Paul to realize the forest continued to thrive when his garden did not. This led him on a journey with God of discovering a new method of gardening that requires less work and inputs while growing healthier produce and soil. \nThe film offers an inspiring take on how gardening can grow both vegetables and faith. Also\, it teaches a method of gardening that requires virtually no watering\, tilling\, fertilizing\, or weeding. \nFor the event\, we will watch the film and then spend some time discussing the topics and themes in small groups. \nThere is no cost to attend the event\, but we will accept donations to help cover the event’s cost. \nWHEN: December 14th\, 2016\, 7:00pm to 9:30pm \nWHERE: Winkler Library’s Multipurpose Room\, 160 Main Street\, Winkler \nFor more information on the film click here.

SUMMARY:Film Premiere: Making Peace With Creation (Vancouver\, BC)
DESCRIPTION:Regent College presents\nA film by Iwan Russell-Jones\nMAKING PEACE WITH CREATION\nwritten & presented\nby\nLOREN WILKINSON\nReserve Tickets Here\nThis is not an A Rocha event. But we thought you might like to know it’s happening! \nPoet and theologian Loren Wilkinson has spent his life thinking\, teaching\, and campaigning about the environment—or creation\, as he prefers to call it. \nMaking Peace with Creation will premiere at Regent College on Wednesday\, December 7th at 7:00 pm.
