SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Immersive Bee Experience (Troy\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha Ontario for an immersive experience exploring the life and importance of bees on Saturday\, July 5th!\nThis 2 hour immersive experience provides an up-close view of a working honey bee colony. Throughout our time together\, we will cover a wide variety of topics including: a honey bee’s life cycle\, their many jobs in the colony\, their importance to our environment (and lives!)\, and how we can be helping them thrive. We will also learn a little bit about the native bees that we have in Ontario. \nThis beehive experience is at a tree nursery farm where our bees are kept. It is a gorgeous space- surrounded by young trees\, situated near a little pond and sometimes we get treated by their grazing sheep! The farm is located in Troy\, Ontario\, just 20 minutes outside of Dundas towards Rockton. \nThere are both hands-on and observational opportunities during these tours. Gloves and suits are available to borrow to get the chance to take a closer look. \nDue to the nature of this outdoor visit\, wearing tall light-colored socks\, closed toed shoes and bringing a water bottle are highly recommended. \nThis event is open to adults and families. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register below. \nUPDATE: Unfortunately\, this event has been cancelled. Thank you for your understanding. We hope to see you at one of our other events soon.

SUMMARY:Christian Witness in Our Ecological Age: Panel Discussion (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Join A Rocha Ontario for a panel discussion on Saturday\, May 31st to explore the topic of Christian Witness in Our Ecological Age!\n\nOur current ecological age is one of rapid change. We are losing forests\, fields\, and agricultural land as cities continue to expand and sprawl. There are more and more extreme weather events linked with a changing climate. We have seen a significant decrease in many wildlife populations and an increase in the rate of species extinctions. Humans are witnessing many changes\, difficulties\, and complexities in our current ecological age.\n\nHave you ever felt overwhelmed by these environmental challenges? Have you ever thought\, “what does Jesus say about all of this?” or “How should I live in light of all that is going on?” Or perhaps you have considered this carefully and have recieved push-back from Christians who do not see the value in creation care. Or maybe you’ve heard some people in secular settings say that Christians are the ones who are harming the environment the most.\n\nHow do we build bridges in this area with others? What does it look like to understand their values to find connection and shared action to care for the earth?\n\nThese are some of the questions that we would like to explore together with the help of our panelist\, who have experience in restoration ecology\, soil health\, and environmental literature. All are encouraged to bring your own questions for our panelists and participate in our group discussion time at the end. Register below to join us.\n\nRegister Below

Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of three fee options when registering: \n\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community. We will also learn how to read the trail blazes\, discuss tips for doing an “End to End” on the Bruce Trail\, and learn about how we can impact the health and future of our essential Greenbelt. \nThis event is open to adults and families. Please register below. \nNote that all children must be accompanied by an adult. Children age 4 and under are eligible to attend for free but registration is still required; remember to select the “young child” ticket option. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. If you have any questions\, please reach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca. \nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Thanks to the Greenbelt Foundation\nWith the support of the Greenbelt Foundation\, A Rocha Ontario is able to promote habitat conservation\, especially within Ontario’s Greenbelt\, through our projects\, programs\, and workshops. \nLearn more about Ontario’s Greenbelt at www.greenbelt.ca.

From interviews with 28 “deconstructing” Canadians\, he examines the place of indigenous culture and history in hopes for a repentant and reconstructed Christian faith\, a faith that sees the “community of creation” as key to the shalom that God promises for all. \nPeter will also be speaking on the topic of “Deconstructing a Young Earth\, Deconstructing Faith: Two Stories\, Two Directions” at a CSCA event on Friday evening Feb. 28 at the Laurentian Leadership Centre. For more details see: https://csca.ca/events/event/2025-ott-sch/ \nPlease RSVP via email to paul.heintzman@arocha.ca to let us know if you will be attending the A Rocha event on March 1 and what you will be bringing for the potluck supper.
