You can choose your activity. We will lead a group cross-country ski for anyone who would like to join us. We have plenty of cross-country ski equipment available for those who don’t have any. This book focuses on the role of hospitality in the work of A Rocha. Join us for a family-friendly liturgy of co-worshiping with God’s creation. Our theme for the evening is Darkness and Light! Together\, we’ll gather\, pray\, wander\, contemplate\, and generally delight in the good world God has made. This evening will include: celebration with a warm campfire and hot chocolate\, optional children’s programming\, and poetry reading with John Terpstra. Features of this trail include panoramic views of the fall colours in Gatineau Park\, the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley. Note: if it is a nice day\, traffic will be heavy in the village of Old Chelsea and on the Gatineau Parkway\, so give yourself plenty of travel time to arrive by 2:30 pm. \n5:30 pm: Potluck Supper  \nShare a meal with us! Please RSVP to let us know what you plan to bring. \n7:00 pm: Presentation \nAfter supper\, Karen Castro will talk about how she transformed most of her front lawn in Kanata to a native plants garden this summer. Then\, the Heintzman family will talk and show slides about their multiple visits to A Rocha’s Brooksdale Environmental Centre in Surrey\, BC and their visit to A Rocha’s Boreal Ecology Centre in Manitoba in 2020. We look forward to seeing you at Cedar Haven! \n1:00 pm — Making Connections with Anthony Siegrist (Ontario Director)\nOur new director\, Anthony\, will introduce himself and share a bit about where A Rocha Ontario is headed. Together we’ll reflect on some of the connections that make living in God’s creation so rich and interesting. \n1:45 pm — Nature Lesson with Jacoba Buist (Education Program Coordinator)\nOur kids education is taking off! Jacoba will walk us through a nature lesson\, and share a bit about what makes Cedar Haven programs like Nature Academy and Wild Things day camp so special. (Adults are also encouraged to participate!) \n2:45 pm — Biodiversity Tour with Alan Constant (past Conservation Assistant)\nAlan has spent three summers monitoring species and restoring habitats at Cedar Haven. Come learn more about the species we’re observing and how they are being protected. (And how you can help!) \n3:30 pm — Local Actions Matter with Luke Wilson (CEO of A Rocha Canada)\nThe news overwhelms us about our sick planet. A Rocha focuses on place based conservation and education. Catalyzing hope and community. Learn how you\, too\, can join in responding to the groaning of creation and the renewal of all things. \nWe will converse with: \n\nLowell Bliss\, a missionary with more than 15 years of experience in mobilizing Christians in climate actions\, the co-funding director of Christian Climate Observers Program (CCOP) and the Climate Intercessors initiative.\nPeter Fargo\, a national park manager turned climate advocate in recent years\, and now the co-founder of Climate Vigil.\nEllie Auton-Strolz\, a former intern at A Rocha’s Brooksdale Centre\, currently studying at UBC. DESCRIPTION:Details\nThis Sabbath Hike is themed around the words of David from Psalm 19\, “The heavens declare the glory of God.” We will consider how all creation declares God’s glory\, but also how it mourns and longs for Christ’s return to bring about the renewal of all Creation. \nWe will begin as one group for a short meditation\, followed by a self-guided portion where you are invited to visit four different prayer stations.
