SUMMARY:EarthKeepers Club (August 2025)
DESCRIPTION:The EarthKeepers Club is a space for youth (ages 12-16) to connect with others their age that have similar interests in the environment and conservation. An example of a typical day might look like a work project to remove invasive species in the morning\, followed by a discussion over lunch about what it means to be a good steward\, and wrapping up by catching and identifying dragonflies in the afternoon. Through this program\, we aim to make a tangible impact and have fun along the way! \nThe EarthKeepers Club currently has no cost to join and runs from April-November\, usually on the second Saturday of each month. We are able to offer 3 volunteer hours for high school students that participate in a program day \nRegistration\nBook your ticket to let us know you’re coming! It is protected by RBG and Ontario’s Greenbelt in order to preserve the ecological integrity of this Important Bird Area. Join us as we play\, learn\, and explore in this unique ecosystem\, getting to know some species that find their way to Hamilton at this time of year. \nPurchase one of our Sliding Scale ticket options to claim a seat in our canoes with local partner Element Canoes. You also have the option to purchase a “Bring Your Own Canoe” ticket if you would like to attend with your own canoe. Please note that there is very limited availability for this option. DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 23rd to learn about one of Ontario’s Species at Risk butterflies: the monarch!\nWe will be taking some time to hear about their migration\, life history and conservation concerns together at Cedar Haven Eco-Centre. This workshop will involve an interactive training where participants will catch and tag monarchs before they leave on their long journey to Mexico. This information will be shared with Monarch Watch and contribute to our understanding of these incredible butterflies.  \nThis event will take place at the Cedar Haven Eco-Centre\, which is located in the ecologically rich and diverse area of Ontario’s Greenbelt.
