SUMMARY:Native Seed Starting Workshop and Volunteer Day (ON)
DESCRIPTION:I don’t know about you\, but I’m counting the days until spring and until our habitat restoration work gets underway. The good news? We don’t have to wait.\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for a Native Plant Seed Starting Workshop and Volunteer Day. This will be a hands-on way to prepare now for the projects that will grow in the months ahead. \nWe’re grateful to be joined by Rick Wukash\, who has generously gathered and prepared a variety of native plant seeds for this workshop. Rick will guide us through the quiet marvel of seeds\, how they’re designed for resilience\, renewal\, and growth. He will also teach the practical skill of cold moist stratification\, an essential step for many native species. \nTogether\, we’ll plant trays of native plants that will later be used in our habitat restoration projects. Whether you’re new to restoration work or have soil permanently under your fingernails\, this afternoon will be a meaningful way to learn\, serve\, and invest in the healing of local ecosystems. \nCome get your hands dirty\, your hope stirred\, and your spring started early. \nWorkshop and Volunteering: 2:00 – 5:00pm EST \nSoup and bread supper to follow. \nAdults and families are welcome to participate. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.

SUMMARY:PA Day Nature Camp - St. Cuthbert's Church (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Spend your upcoming PA Day at St. Cuthbert’s Church with A Rocha Ontario!\nAt this 1-day nature camp\, your child will have the opportunity to learn about and build a personal connection to the natural world. Each nature camp program will be filled with nature experiences\, science experiments\, storytelling\, nature-based art and fun games! Together\, we will explore nature from both familiar and new perspectives\, building friendships and fond memories along the way. \nThis event is open to children ages 5-13. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of four fee options when registering: \n\nAccessible Rate: Choose this one if cost is a significant barrier to you attending and/or you identify as a member of a community facing systemic barriers to wealth accumulation (ie. you identify as BIPOC\, single-parent household\, low-income family\, etc).\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community. If you have any questions\, please reach out to us at ontario@arocha.ca. \nPayment & Registration\nPlease purchase 1 ticket per child you wish to register. SUMMARY:PA Day Nature Camp - Salvation Army Winterberry Heights Church (Stoney Creek\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Spend your upcoming PA Day at Salvation Army Winterberry Heights Church with A Rocha Ontario!\nAt this 1-day nature camp\, your child will have the opportunity to learn about and build a personal connection to the natural world. SUMMARY:Churches Caring for Creation: Idea Exchange (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:What can churches do to care for creation?\nJoin A Rocha Ontario\, True City and St. Cuthbert’s Church on Saturday\, October 18th for our joint event “Churches Caring for Creation – Idea Exchange.” \nBuilding from last year’s event\, we are inviting you to join us to explore and discuss how Christian communities and their leaders can get involved with creation care. More people are becoming interested in making creation care part of the way they serve God and neighbour\, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start or where to go next on this journey. So join us for an afternoon of inspiration\, conversation\, and encouragement!  At this event\, we’ll hear stories and insights from experienced panelists from different congregations. Click here (or scroll down) to learn more about our speakers/panelists: Cindy Stover\, Marcée Lane\, and Rob Miller. We’ll also have the opportunity to ask our panel questions and engage in smaller group discussions to share creation care tips\, ideas\, and challenges. \nThis event will be hosted at St. Cuthbert’s Church (Hamilton\, ON) from 1PM – 3PM\, and is open to adults. Light refreshments will be served. \nAnyone interested is welcome to attend. Whether you’re in a leadership role or not\, a member of a church or not\, please come and join the conversation. Register (for free) below. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n\nChurches Caring Creation: Idea Exchange Event - Registration\n\nRegistration for the Church's Churches Caring for Creation - Idea Exchange event is free! Cindy seeks to empower people to bear the image of Creator God as we enact justice in every area of our lives\, from how we shop\, to how we talk to our neighbours\, to how our communities respond to the most vulnerable. She can often be found reading a good book around a campfire\, or watching a BBC miniseries with her cats and a cup of tea. Her favourite colour is sparkle. \nMarcée Lane\nAs a pastor at Forestview\, Marcée and her church want people to meet Jesus and become more like him. One of the ways that they seek to do this is by loving creation better. In the past\, Forestview had a beekeeping ministry and currently\, they partner with A Rocha Ontario by hosting three bird boxes as part of Project NEST. Forestview also founded an outreach in Burlington called Next Door Social Space (NDSS) that includes Rolling Horse Community Cycle and Next Door Community Kitchen. NDSS is an expression of Forestview’s creation care because it refurbishes old bikes\, promotes green transportation\, and uses rescued food & community gardens to create meals for the community. \nRob Miller\nRob Miller is an Anglican Missioner-Priest to the city of Hamilton. He works with ecclesial communities to nurture their appreciation of place and capacity for presence. The beginnings of both The Community of Common Prayer and the Saint Luke’s Mission are associated with his leadership. Presently\, he is interested in the phenomena of repentance\, mercy\, and gratitude; movements of the heart he considers essential in the pursuit of hospitality. Living in the North end of Hamilton with his family\, Rob spends his days walking\, reading\, and playing the fiddle.

SUMMARY:EarthKeepers Club (August 2025)
DESCRIPTION:The EarthKeepers Club is a space for youth (ages 12-16) to connect with others their age that have similar interests in the environment and conservation. An example of a typical day might look like a work project to remove invasive species in the morning\, followed by a discussion over lunch about what it means to be a good steward\, and wrapping up by catching and identifying dragonflies in the afternoon. Through this program\, we aim to make a tangible impact and have fun along the way! \nThe EarthKeepers Club currently has no cost to join and runs from April-November\, usually on the second Saturday of each month. We are able to offer 3 volunteer hours for high school students that participate in a program day \nRegistration\nBook your ticket to let us know you’re coming! If this is your first time participating in the EarthKeepers Club in 2025\, please also complete the registration form below. \n\n \n Book Ticket(s)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Complete Registration Form\nRegistration Form

SUMMARY:Explore Day - Royal Botanical Gardens (Hamilton\, ON)
DESCRIPTION:Come explore the Royal Botanical Gardens with our environmental education team!\nThrough this program\, we combine scientific learning with wonder-led exploration. At this event\, we will spend time hiking\, learn about the creatures we encounter\, and play together in the beauty of the natural world. \nOpen to children ages 7 – 12. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of three fee options when registering: \n\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. After purchasing your Eventbrite ticket(s)\, please make sure to also fill out the registration form below. \n\n \n Purchase Ticket(s)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Complete Registration Form (MANDATORY)\nRegistration Form\n\n \n If this program is cancelled due to low enrolment or health and safety restrictions\, payment will be fully refundable.
