SUMMARY:EarthKeepers Club (June 2025)
DESCRIPTION:The EarthKeepers Club is a space for youth (ages 12-16) to connect with others their age that have similar interests in the environment and conservation. An example of a typical day might look like a work project to remove invasive species in the morning\, followed by a discussion over lunch about what it means to be a good steward\, and wrapping up by catching and identifying dragonflies in the afternoon. Through this program\, we aim to make a tangible impact and have fun along the way! \nThe EarthKeepers Club currently has no cost to join and runs from April-November\, usually on the second Saturday of each month. We are able to offer 3 volunteer hours for high school students that participate in a program day \nRegistration\nBook your ticket to let us know you’re coming! DESCRIPTION:Come explore the amazing biodiversity of Cootes Paradise (Hamilton\, ON) with us at our Canoe Exploration on Saturday\, June 21st!\nDid you know that Hamilton’s own Cootes Paradise is one of the most biodiverse places in Canada? It is protected by RBG and Ontario’s Greenbelt in order to preserve the ecological integrity of this Important Bird Area. Join us as we play\, learn\, and explore in this unique ecosystem\, getting to know some species that find their way to Hamilton at this time of year. \nPurchase one of our Sliding Scale ticket options to claim a seat in our canoes with local partner Element Canoes. You also have the option to purchase a “Bring Your Own Canoe” ticket if you would like to attend with your own canoe. Please note that there is very limited availability for this option. DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 21st as we delve into the world of butterflies led by our guest biologist: Brenda Van RysWyk!\nBrenda has over 20 years of experience in identifying and helping to restore butterflies in Ontario. At this event\, we will have a chance to connect with each other as well as learn more about butterfly habitat and conservation concerns. Following this time\, we will have time to catch and ID the local butterfly population. This event will take place at the Cedar Haven Eco-Centre\, which is located in the ecologically rich and diverse area of Ontario’s Greenbelt. \nThis event is open to participants over the age of 12. Please register below. \nSliding Scale Pricing\nWe believe in the value of our programs and we know you do too! That’s why we have introduced sliding scale pricing this year; we are happy to have you come at any rate you select. Instead of a fixed fee\, you can choose from one of three fee options when registering: \n\nSubsidized Rate: Choose this one if cost is a barrier to you attending. We are able to offer this option due to the generosity of our supporters\, including donors and grants.\nTrue-Value Rate: This is what we estimate to be a fair cost for the event. It helps us cover costs of staff\, materials\, and other fees associated with running the event.\nPay-It-Forward Rate: Choose this one if you want to invest in the future of A Rocha programming and help others be able to come at the subsidized rate.\n\nBy offering tiered pricing\, we aim to balance affordability with sustainability\, making our programs accessible while also providing participants with an opportunity to support their community.
