SUMMARY:Conservation Saturday (Boreal Ecology Centre\, MB)
DESCRIPTION:WHO: You! We’re looking for willing volunteers who care about creation and nature conservation. Skills and knowledge are an asset\, but all are welcome!\nWHAT: Graham (Conservation Science Coordinator) will be leading the group in a forest biodiversity monitoring day. We have several permanent monitoring sites set up and would like to record plant biodiversity for them. We will be starting from 1×1m quadrats and expanding outwards recording samples of herbs\, shrubs\, and then more detailed stem mapping of trees.\nExperience identifying Manitoba plants is an asset but not required to participate.\n \nThis work is meant to accomplish a couple of things:\n1. Set a baseline understanding of the biodiversity of the forest\n2. Determine the health of the forest (do we see lots of thriving species or less so)\n3. Observe how the forest is changing\, understanding the succession is part of a healthy forest we want to see how the forest is growing and changing\n\n\n\nWHERE: The Boreal Ecology Centre\, 81025 Boggy River Rd.\, East Braintree\, MB\nWHEN: Saturday\, August 6\, 2022\, arriving between 9 and 10 AM\, departing between 3 and 5 PM\nWHAT TO BRING:\n\nEssentials: bag lunch (including snacks\, water bottle etc.)\, work boots and gloves\, good clothes for walking and being outdoors\, bug spray and sunscreen\, binoculars\n\n\nRSVP: Fill out the form below to register.
