New leadership for Just Growing

Bethany Paetkau recently joined the A Rocha team in Winnipeg, MB and is taking Just Growing into its second year of community outreach, education, and gardening. The intention of this project is for inner-city Winnipeg to benefit from fresh organically-grown produce, summer day camps and community celebrations.  Last year thousands of pounds of vegetables were grown by and distributed to low-income residents. The project provided not only nutritious food but also a sense of accomplishment, self-sufficiency and community to those living on the economic margins.

This shared project is made possible through the generous partnership of St. Margaret’s Church, along with grants from the Winnipeg Foundation, Manitoba Green Team, and Canada Summer Jobs.
